Fiat Bladed HITAG Read Config

Reading Fiat Security Configuration Data - HITAG2 Bladed models
  • Below is a video which shows how quickly and easily the security configuration data can be extracted from a Fiat Ducato MY2017 model using TrueCode Online.
  • The process shown is the same for many Fiat based vehicles which use bladed keys and HITAG2 transponders.
Fiat Bladed Key (HITAG2) Technical Information
  • Fiat models use a five digit numeric pincode.
  • In order to program keys into a Fiat you must know what this pincode is.
  • TrueCode Online will read it directly from the vehicle for you.

Fiat Transponders
  • Before any transponder can be programmed into a bladed key Fiat system, it must be ‘pre-coded’. Think of this as personalising the key for that unique vehicle that you are working on.
  • No other vehicle will have this same ‘pre-coding’. If you order a key from the dealership, it will arrive ‘pre-coded’.
  • TrueCode Online can read this pre-coding directly from the vehicle allowing you to pre-code your own keys.
  • The transponder type that this range of Fiat models uses is the HITAG2 transponder from NXP.
  • Transponders can be in the form of a standalone, encapsulated, device (Fig.1)
  • Transponders can also be a PCB mounted device (Fig.2), incorporating some additional circuitry for remote control functions.
  • Each type must be 'pre-coded' before it can be programmed into a vehicle.

Pre-Coding of Fiat Transponders

  • The simplest way to precode these keys is to use a dedicated transponder manipulation device.
  • There are many such devices. Examples include TMPro2, Miraclone, Tango, AD900Pro, Zedbull.
  • All of those devices all require you to load in a binary (.bin) file. The pre-coding information is stored within this .bin file. This is the our recommended way in which to precode Fiat keys.
  • The file that is read will always be recognised as 'Fiat Delphi 93C86' by these devices - regardless of being from a Delphi or a Marelli BCM.
  • TrueCode Online software will read and allow you to save this file.

Programming keys by OBD

  • You will need the pincode for the vehicle.
  • TrueCode Online software will determine and enter this automatically for you.
  • The software will prompt you through each step of programming the keys.
  • Pay good attention to the important notes below.

Important Notes

  • All keys, both old and new, must be programmed to the vehicle at the same one time.
  • It does not matter which order you insert the keys. You can program the old key first and then the new key as the second - or vice versa.
  • You must program all of the keys in the same one procedure.
  • Any keys not programmed are added to an internal list of ‘cancelled keys’. The BCM remembers them and will not allow you to program them subsequently.
  • Incorrect selection of physical remote key for the vehicle being worked on (some are Delphi and some are Marelli) will result in the remote functions of the new key not functioning. This is not a problem with TrueCode Online software. Select the correct remote type for the vehicle.
  • When pre-coding remote keys, you must first determine the number of legs on the SMD device on the remote key PCB. Your pre-coding device should ask you this. Incorrect, or none-selection of this, may result in the remote key not operating at the correct frequency. This is not a fault with TrueCode Online software.
  • Click here for further technical information on remote key pre-coding.
  • If the new key starts the car then TrueCode Online software has done its job correctly.
